      - Till - Otani-san (BBR) wants to give his response on 6 December
      - Foomatic/4.0 being aligned w/ CUPS PPD extensions for strings
      - Request to use CUPS PPD extensions for username/password options
      - Glen - security is a system architecture problem
        - Requirements for each API, local system, and print protocols
      - Norm - username/password transport is an important issue
        - Even with SSL, password hash (NOT cleartext) should be sent
      - Ira - SSL/TLS without strong MUTUAL authentication is not secure
        - Attacks against SSL/TLS with server-only authentication
      - Glen - P2600 specs are largely complete - time to review them
        - P2600 describes "what" (requirements) but not "how" (methods)
        - P2600 describes set of printing environments - similar to OP
      - Ira - A PWG member has proposed an Austin BOF on a P2600/PWG/TCG
        Joint Security WG
        - Open Printing should also participate
      - Till - see Wiki page for additional action items and status
      - Till - Need report from OP Japan on PDF workflow issues/work
      - Till - Printing Dialog - meeting in Europe in February 2008
        - Need feedback from printer vendors very quickly for spec
        - Open UI team needs to finish design before February meeting
        - Need to have tags added to PPDs to support Printing Dialog
        - Foomatic XML generator should add appropriate tags
        - Need standard default tags for each option for legacy PPDs
      - Glen - incoherence of PPD, UPDF, JTAPI, and other option names
        - Adobe/vendor option names in PPD files are NOT same as JTAPI
      - Norm - practically, we must deal with legacy PPD option names
        - need migration paths and interworking solutions for legacy

(3) PWG Best Practices for IEEE 1284 Device ID - Ira McDonald

    - Report on OP Arch and PWG Steering Committee discussions - Ira
      - Interoperable keywords for "CMD:"
        - taken from Printer MIB enumeration and MIME types

      - Norm - this would help printer installation on all OS platforms

      - Ira - write up ABNF and summary of proposal for PWG

        - Current highest priority for Glen's time on OP tasks

        - should be part of LSB conformance testing
